PUG waves farewell to Colin and opens up for new members.

Last week one of the PlusNet UserGroups founding members got a well-earned position as a Web Portal Developer at PlusNet. Colin was one of the original founders of the PlusNet UserTools and a key member in setting up all the websites, forums and developing tools such as the PlusNet UserGroup Issue Tracker.

We are really pleased for Colin, and offer our wholehearted congratulations and best wishes for him.

We are also pleased to announce that the hard-working PUGIT team have been invited to become full members of PUG following their excellent efforts in developing, populating and managing the Issue Tracker. By bringing this team more into PUG we are positive that we will see the Issue Tracker becoming a much more prominent tool for both PlusNet and the users.

Along with all these changes and movements we are now starting a recruitment drive for Journalists, Content Writers, Developers and Site/Forum maintainers. Basic “job descriptions” are included below and we would welcome applications from any current PlusNet/MetroNet/F9/Free-Online or CharityDays customers. Applications should be made by sending a Private Message to Wildmind on the PlusNet UserGroup Forums.

CONTENT WRITERS / JOURNOS
We are looking for people to write content for sections of the PUG Website and/or news articles for our main news pages.

Ideally we would like to recruit 4 to 5 people with varying degrees of technical understanding so that the website is presented at a variety of levels.

Good communication skills and writing abilities are essential for these posts, as is an ability to spend a couple of hours a week on producing articles and/or content so that we can build a dynamic, fresh and relevant website for the PlusNet Userbase.

As with all roles in PUG, these are voluntary posts and carry no remuneration or benefits.
If you are accepted into the roles, you would be asked to sign an NDA which would then allow you into the confidential discussions and will give a greater chance to influence PlusNet going forward. There will also be the chance to take part in online meetings and for meetings in Sheffield.

Please note: Only current paying customers of PlusNet, MetroNet, Force9, Free-Online or CharityDays are eligible for these posts and we will be asking PlusNet to check accounts to confirm that this criteria is met.

DEVELOPERS / SITE ADMINISTRATORS
The PlusNet UserGroup, and it's sister site - UserTools, are looking for web developers to create new tools for the community and to help build the PUG site. Any form of developer will be considered as we are always looking for new ways to offer tools to PlusNet family customers. If you are a PHP, Perl, VB, SQL or other type of coder - we are interested in hearing your ideas!

We are also looking for a couple of experienced site admins to assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the PUG Site (using Etomite) and forums (using SMF) as well as help coding future versions of the site using PHP, XHTML and CSS.
