I'd hope that you and Bud can come up with some more stuff relating to "the early years". Ideally not too obscure! but things that other longstanding customers will find trigger memories.
To kick things off... Collapsing pylons Roundabouts and news servers Buffy's thighs Owls Flashing hamsters news1, news2, news3 Paulmac (and his jumpers) Lee's big stick (or was it Sig?) Ratty and the 450k dhtml homepages Radiac #force9 Rachel's big desk Martin Sewell Nick Lott

Lee's Big Sig - this came about when Lee posted to usenet (He was quite a frequent poster as well, back when most of the support team actually posted in the newsgroups). The big stick came later though.....
news1, news2, news3 - The famous force9 news servers, often they werent working but IIRC news3 was the more reliable one. And since we are on news servers the move from Worksop aparantly didn't go as smoothly as what was hoped, with the news server being in Nick Lott's car boot and said car then stuck at a roundabout, it kept force9.social.chat busy with banter for a while (mostly on news3 ;-p ).

The collapsing pylon was a great logo, I'm sure I still have a force9 signup cd with that logo on the cardboard sleave. It looks something like my avatar.
IIRC the early cd's also had the phrase "unleash the beast" on them.

Aye... news3 was the one least likely to spark out in those days. More things... The great Surftime cull +++ChAoS+++ and the headers of doom Choice Peripherals Demon baiting Lum signup.force9.net £7.99 accounts Jon Noble Incidentally, was The IT Crowd based on f9.social.chat?

The stories seemed awfully familiar, specially the one with someone stuck under a females desk

Back in the old dauys there was Gold Silver & Bronze. Not for traffic shaping but different levels of accounts. Bronze being 7.99 and being a basic acccess, email and news account, Silver being 8.99 or even 9.99 with a bit more features and then there was gold the top of the range account.
The gold silver & bronze accounts got replaced when they introduced f9 premier with the 0800 weekends. That account served me well till BT launched surftime. With that the plus net we have today was introduced, meaning we had to sign up again to the new brand.

In the old old days, Bronze was £4.99, Silver was £6.99 and Gold was £9.99 IIRC, Bronze was the bog-standard, with *UNLIMITED* webspace and *UNLIMITED* email addresses; Silver added CGI, and Gold was the AOL-a-like that never really happened, apart from having a news feed on the front page. There was also Freefone support

The freefone support became one of the access numbers for the f9 0800 weekends. The UNLIMITED web space didn't last long. Then again either did the unlimited surftime

Technically, the unlimited webspace was in perpetuity for legacy customers, though as nothing was in writing, nobody remembered it when packages changed. CD05

I can't find the cd I am thinking about, I could actually mistaken about it. I do recall the CD from the time of the move from Worksop as they had a label with updated contact information and the new telephone support number stuck on them.
IIRC the last cd issue was the red and white f9 branded one.
I will have another look when I get time, at the moment there is other things I should be doing.

End Of Day Reports that were always late
The End Of Day Reports were great, although not on time usually. The f9.soc.chat crew started to do some spoof reports done in the style of Jeremy Clarkson, Father Ted and south park were amung some of the spoof ones.
