I disagree. You are a customer and a long standing, experienced one at that, who's seen lots of change, good times and bad times. You don't need to be technical, just interested, willing to engage and work within the aims of PUG.

The group does need some technical expertise, but it also needs people who know customer experience and that's probably more important right now than technical knowledge.
I absolutely agree with Mark - the customer journey is something that impacts the entire userbase, whether technically skilled or not; and there's a large potential benefit from expanding the groups' awareness of the experience as it pertains to a wider range of users.
