Hi I'm new here so if you could bear with me if i sound a bit thick lol

I have moved my website over to cgi. I've then put an index file and anchor file in htdocs (were my webpages used to be} to point my domain to the cgi area. This all works fine if the visitors just type the domain name to go to my index, home page. The problem is if they know the page name and try to go direct to it ie http://www.domainname/pictures the page is not found. I take it  that the index in htdocs is not redirecting to all my pages only the home page.      Anyone got any ideas how, or if  I can get over this

I don't suppose this procedure has changed recently - you can raise a ticket and ask them to point your domain name to your space on the CGI server, rather than you having to use a redirect.

That means that because www.domainname.com will point directly to your space on the CGI server, then www.domainname.com/pictures will work as it should do.

Thanks for that Chris I've posted a question with plus net. Dont know if it will work, they originaly told me I could only use a domain name by redirecting. You never know though

Hi all, This is the reply I got. (Very quick I have to say) "I have added the additional records to point the www sub domain to your CGI space; this should take effect in at most 24 hours. Please check the Domains support section for help and information about registering, hosting, managing and transferring domains"  I'll let you know how I get on in 24 hours

Well it all works now, I should have raised a ticket in the first place I suppose. But then I wouldnt have found this forum. Thanks Guys.

Have you visited the Community Forums and more specifically the Webspace Help board on there? There's more activity on there and your questions will reach a wider audience and get quicker answers. They are probably the best place for getting advice; these forums are more appropriate if highlighting an issue that needs to to taken up with Plusnet (although as you have found there are plenty of people willing to help with individual problems around here too).

Hi I did visit the webspace help and did what I could. Agreed I should have raised a ticket before coming here but thought it was worth a try to solve my problem. Sorry if I came to the wrong place.

Not the wrong place at all - just on the main Plusnet forums I linked your message would have reached a wider audience as those forums are far, far more active.
