Unfortunately, the site suffered a period of downtime earlier.

This was due to issues connecting to the database server.

A temporary fix has been put in place, which unfortunately, means that the site and forums are only visible to people who are connected via a PlusNet connection.

Can not it be left like that: it is driving the conspiracy theorists crazy on that other site  evil

I hope not as it's a right pain using RDP back to my box in the UK.

Of course, this is no use to anyone who CAN'T connect via a Plusnet connection because Plusnet have broken it (e.g. LLU problems, Max DSL problems etc.)

Restriction has been removed for at least the last 5 hours.

Although my reply is a little late, I would indeed agree that it was of no use at all for people that are making use of other connections, due to a fault.

However, that night it boiled down to making it available to PlusNet IPs, or nobody at all. We didn't have to block it, but had we not, you would ahve simply got an error anyway.
